Featured Role Model
Joey Hermosillo
Joey Hermosillo is from Phoenix, Arizona and a recent graduate from Grand Canyon University. While he was in high school he made sure to apply to every scholarship as possible which resulted in him starting every semester of college debt-free. It allowed him to focus on his studies and come to the realization that he didn’t like what he was studying. He changed his major a couple of times before he landed on nursing. According Joey, nursing combines all of the things that he loves; interacting with patients, thinking critically and using math to solve problems.
Out of the 3,000,000 registered nurses in the U.S., Hispanics represent only 3.6% even though Hispanics make up 17% of the U.S. population. Many Hispanic students and parents are not aware of the multiple opportunities that exist in the nursing fields.
