Hispanics in Nursing The National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) is profiling Hispanic nurses in a new radio campaign -- Carreras en Enfermería / Hispanics in Nursing -- to spark the interest of persons looking for rewarding and fulfilling career opportunities to grow professionally as a nurse.

Meghan Orbegoso
Meghan Orbegoso is from Mesa, Arizona and is currently attending Arizona State University. She describes nursing school as rollercoaster ride because you have to deal with the ups and downs that are created by non-stop tasks. Nursing school is a full time job that requires her full attention during lectures, but also during clinicals and studying. It is easy to get lost and ignore basic task such as eating or resting properly. Meghan has dealt with stress and anxiety but has realized the importance of staying healthy and being able to lean on her support group when she needs help.
Out of the 3,000,000 registered nurses in the U.S., Hispanics represent only 3.6% even though Hispanics make up 17% of the U.S. population. Many Hispanic students and parents are not aware of the multiple opportunities that exist in the nursing fields.
