Hispanics in Nursing The National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) is profiling Hispanic nurses in a new radio campaign -- Carreras en Enfermería / Hispanics in Nursing -- to spark the interest of persons looking for rewarding and fulfilling career opportunities to grow professionally as a nurse.

Patricia Rojas is from New York and attends Phillips School of Nursing at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. Ever since she was in high school, she wanted to pursue a career in science. But, after studying to become a researcher, she learned that she didn’t want to be behind the scenes. Patricia decided to pursue a career in nursing because she wanted to be around people and interact with her patients. As a compassionate and understanding nurse, Patricia cares for her patients’ well being and health with an understanding that she needs to provide them the best care.
Out of the 3,000,000 registered nurses in the U.S., Hispanics represent only 3.6% even though Hispanics make up 17% of the U.S. population. Many Hispanic students and parents are not aware of the multiple opportunities that exist in the nursing fields.
