Hispanics in Nursing The National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) is profiling Hispanic nurses in a new radio campaign -- Carreras en Enfermería / Hispanics in Nursing -- to spark the interest of persons looking for rewarding and fulfilling career opportunities to grow professionally as a nurse.

Diana Ortega
Diana Ortega is from Chicago, Illinois and attends Chamberlain College of Nursing. She became interested in nursing after the birth of her son. The patience, care and confidence the nurses showed her while she was in the hospital inspired her to do the same for others. Diana says nursing school is tough and comes with lots of sacrifices. Luckily, she has two support groups: her academic one and her family. Diana attributes the hardship of nursing schol to her family’s support, especially when they take care of her son when she has to study.
Out of the 3,000,000 registered nurses in the U.S., Hispanics represent only 3.6% even though Hispanics make up 17% of the U.S. population. Many Hispanic students and parents are not aware of the multiple opportunities that exist in the nursing fields.
