Featured Role Model
Marianelli Hanna
Marianelli Hanna is a proud mom of two boys. Her eldest son, 8, is her inspiration to become a nurse. Struggling with stomach problems for the majority of his life, Marianelli has studied vast amounts of research to help alleviate her son’s pain. During a hospital visit, one of her son’s nurses recognized Marianelli’s knowledge and encouraged her to pursue nursing. Once she becomes a registered nurse, she can fulfill her passion to help others, like her son, and educate her Latino community about how to prevent common health problems, such as diabetes.
Out of the 3,000,000 registered nurses in the U.S., Hispanics represent only 3.6% even though Hispanics make up 17% of the U.S. population. Many Hispanic students and parents are not aware of the multiple opportunities that exist in the nursing fields.
