Andrea Valdez

Andrea Valdez is originally from Guatemala and recently graduated from Phoenix College. When she started college she was pursuing a degree in business, but after giving birth to her daughter she decided to change the trajectory of her education. She was going through a difficult period in her life, but she felt safe and secure when giving birth, all because of the actions of a nurse. Andrea recalls telling her mother that if one day she became a nurse, she would be happy the rest of her life. That moments put her on the path to a career in nursing. It wasn’t easy but 10 years later she was able to fulfill her dream. In a way, she also met the expectations of her mother, who had worked so hard to give her a better life in this country. Andrea hopes to be able to do the same for her own daughter.
