Bella Mercado

Bella Mercado is a recent graduate from East Los Angeles College of Nursing and encourages students to apply for scholarships as a way to pay for college. It might seem difficult at first, but once you are able to put “your story” into an essay the process becomes easier. Her own story started when she was young and came across a television special that talked about the work that Mother Teresa was doing in India to help those less fortunate, hungry and sick. Those images of Mother Teresa made an impression on Bella and is the reason why she is pursuing a degree in public health. She hopes that one day she will be able to humanize communities by engaging Latinos to understand what resources are needed to better their health.
