Carolina Rodriguez
Carolina Rodriguez graduated from the Harriet Rothkopf Heilbrunn School of Nursing at Long Island University in New York. She believes there are too many misconceptions of what it means to be a nurse. For Carolina, being a nurse means to care for and maintain the health and well-being of all people. She believes in educating families and communities about how to care for themselves when they are sick. This was especially true in her own life. When her own father was dying of a terminal illness, Carolina realized she didn’t need to be a doctor to help him. She saw the nurses taking care of her father and helping him understand his illness. This translated to Carolina’s own understanding of the need to be there for him and how to support him during his last days. Today, Carolina advocates that nursing is one of the most noble careers in the health field.
